Or "The South Island for Shits and Giggles". Our guides brought knowledge, competence and enthusiasm, we brought the good weather, an adventurous spirit, and good humor and this awesomely beautiful country did the rest in making this a magical experience.

Destiny wanted me to be in the Kiwi Tour and gave me the opportunity of doing one of the most special trips of my life! Due to a cyclone, my holidays in Australia were cancelled in the last minute and Active Adventure made possible to get me on board the trip with very short notice. Beautiful places, great guides&travellers and sunny weather …just perfect!!! Our tour guides, Sarah& Andrew, thought in every single detail making the trip even more amazing. Now back to Spain but I am wishing to come back to NZ any day !

A once in a life-time experience taking in the beauty of the South Island of New Zealand, from the sea to the mountain tops, from the glaciers to the lakes and rivers. Hiking New Zealand is a not-to-miss life adventure.

I really liked the kayaking and most of the hikes were great! The time in the buses was a little longer than expected because the roads do not allow for high speed travel.

Fantastic trip for fit people of all ages. We were a group of 8 senior adults and the guides made the trip enjoyable for everyone, no matter what their level of fitness. I would highly recommend the Kiwi trip for anyone who doesn't want to just see New Zealand from the bus window.

We took the Rimu trip 9 years ago. This year we opted for the Kiwi and enjoyed it even more. It is an extremely well-designed and planned trip; perfect for active people over fifty, or those not into extreme activity. It offers a great sampling of areas in the South Island with day hikes of 2-4 hours. It had the right number of breaks on the longer drives. Every hike seemed better than the one before. Our two guides, Dave and Sally, were delightful and awesome. They worked extremely well together. Sally's cooking was truly gourmet, with everything nutritionally balanced and beautifully presented. It is difficult to pick favorites, but Milford Sound, Mount Cook and helihiking on the Franz Joseph Glacier had scenery beyond belief, and Punakaiki was so interesting. The hidden gem was the Kepler track. At several locations we had choices. The more scenic choices appeared to be the boat ride at Milford Sound because one can see so much more of the sound and more wildlife, the shorter hike at Okarito to the spot with three views, the hike to two lakes at Mount Cook and the peninsular hike at Kaikoura, (whale watchers only saw one whale).
It was not possible for restaurants to live up to "Sally's kitchen", but the low spot was Hot Mama's restaurant. The tree top walk on the West coast was underwhelming and not worth the fee paid by Active. Everyone would have liked more time at Punikaiki.
