It's a moment you've earned, and one you'll remember long after the hike is over.

As you make your way east, the distinctive peaks of Los Cuernos gradually come into view. Meaning "The Horns" in Spanish, these striking mountains rise dramatically above the lake, their layers of dark sedimentary rock and pale granite creating one of the park's most iconic landscapes. The contrast between the vivid blue waters of Lake Nordenskjöld and the rugged peaks makes for remarkable scenery throughout the day.

From the water, you'll enjoy a unique perspective of the glacier, creating one of the most memorable experiences of your time in Patagonia. Rising above the turquoise waters of Lago Argentino, its immense wall of ice stretches as far as the eye can see.

Accompanied by a local specialist guide, you'll explore a series of viewing platforms that offer incredible perspectives of the glacier's towering face. Keep your ears tuned for deep cracks and rumbles as enormous chunks of ice break away and crash into the lake below, a dramatic reminder that this glacier is constantly in motion. Part of the world's third-largest freshwater reserve, Perito Moreno also acts as a natural dam, creating a fascinating landscape shaped by the powerful forces of ice and water.

FAQs about this trip

From the types of hiking boots to bring, to whether cash machines are readily available. Read through our FAQs for the lowdown on how to prepare for your adventure to Patagonia.

On the first day of the trip we’ll meet you at Hotel Natalino, in Puerto Natales, Chile at 6pm for dinner with your fellow adventurers. You are welcome to book your pre-trip stay at this hotel directly or any other hotel in Puerto Natales, though you must make your own way to Hotel Natalino at the pre-designated time.

Your trip ends with a drop-off at the El Calafate Airport (FTE) for flights departing any time after breakfast.

Arrival: We recommend arriving in Puerto Natales at least the day before your trip starts, or before 2pm on the first day. Many guests like to arrive a day or two early to accommodate potential flight delays and/or explore the city prior to your trip start.

Departure: On the last day of your trip, you can fly out from El Calafate airport any time after breakfast, and we'll drop you off before noon. If you're considering an early morning flight please let us know so we can make arrangements

We’ve selected the accommodation for the unique character and adventuresome feel – this trip is not designed as a tour of the fanciest hotels in Patagonia. We prefer to stay in quaint, comfortable B&B’s and lodges. Things get a little more rustic when we head to the Refugio’s during the W-trek. The Refugio's are like backcountry lodges with hot showers, three course meals, bunk beds and it’s all part of a truly amazing experience! The rest of the time we stay in clean, comfortable, family-owned inns and hotels in the heart of the action.

If you've selected a single supplement for your trip, the W-Trek Hike (Days 3 – 7) are not included as no single rooms are available in the refugio's/lodges, and the single supplement price takes this into account. We recommend bringing enough clothing to only have to do laundry once during your trip, and the best time will be after your Wtrek once we return to Puerto Natales.

Occasionally, your accommodations may differ from those featured, but they’ll always be hand-picked by our expert team with care. We’ll send your final accommodation list a month before your trip begins, so you’ll know exactly where you’re staying before you set off.
