Responsible for people and planet
Our adventures are shaped by the landscapes we explore and the people we meet along the way. As you travel with us, you’ll notice initiatives to help reduce waste and lighten our footprint, like packing picnic lunches in reusable containers. We’ll also exchange simple ideas for how we can all travel more thoughtfully, so the places we visit remain just as special for the next adventurer who comes along. Our local teams on the ground in every destination take the initiative to do what’s right for every community we visit and to leave no trace of our stay... other than positive memories of course! There is always more to do, and we are on a journey as a company to do better so every adventure gives back and leaves only a positive impact.
Supporting our local communities
In appreciation of the Nepalese people for their kindness and welcoming generosity for our guests on our Himalayan adventures, we proudly support the Active Hearts Foundation and the amazing work they do in Nepal. Our long-time guide Dan Keys – or ‘DK’ as he’s known – was on the ground guiding in Nepal during the devastating earthquake of 2015. With donations and support from our guests and Active Adventures Dan was able to mobilize and coordinate aid for the local people and their villages, and has continued the momentum in setting up the Foundation.
Since then, our long-term financial commitment, has helped support Dan and his local team to run the Foundation and complete important projects such as building libraries for schools, clean water suppies high in the Himalayan foothills and emergency healthcare to rural communities.
Dan has many more projects on the go and we’re delighted to support this fantastic cause and give something back to the incredible communities which make our Himalayan adventures so special.
To find out more about the Foundation, head to this page or check out the documentary video. If you'd like to donate to Active Hearts Foundation, or go on a discovery trip with them to see the amazing work they’re doing, head to their website here.
Conscious action where we live and work
Every member of our team is enabled to take two hours every fortnight to volunteer for a local community group or charity. Everyone can choose a cause close to their heart — they get a real kick out of it, and we love to see the results and hear about their time well spent.
