As you ride, you'll gain a deeper appreciation for the rugged landscapes that shaped generations of Patagonian pioneers.

At lunchtime, we'll stop at Perales Ranch for a traditional Patagonian feast. Enjoy the region's famous asado de cordero (roast lamb) and hear stories of the Alvarez family, whose roots in these remote fjords stretch back generations.

With the iconic Torres del Paine peaks rising above the shoreline, it's a spectacular introduction to one of the world's great hiking destinations.

After lunch, we'll journey deeper into the park, stopping to admire the brilliant blue waters of Lake Nordenskjöld and Lake Pehoé before arriving at Kau Rio Serrano, our home for the next four nights. Tucked beside the Serrano River on the edge of the park, it feels like a hidden retreat in the heart of Patagonia. After a delicious breakfast, we'll make our way to Lake Pehoé and board a catamaran for a scenic cruise across its brilliant turquoise waters. We'll set out on one of Torres del Paine's most rewarding hikes, following the trail into the heart of the French Valley.

As the trail winds beneath the granite peaks of Los Cuernos, you'll be surrounded by hanging glaciers, rugged ravines, and dramatic mountain scenery at every turn. If we're lucky, we may even hear the distant rumble of the French Glacier calving high above the valley walls.

After enjoying lunch on the trail, we'll retrace our steps and cruise back across Lake Pehoé before returning to Kau Rio Serrano. After returning to shore, we'll head back to Kau Rio Serrano for lunch before the afternoon's hike.

Hike Los Condores, view Los Cuernos "Horns of Patagonia"

Today combines two of Torres del Paine's classic hikes, each offering a different perspective of the park's remarkable landscapes. After breakfast, we'll hike to Mirador Condor, climbing through windswept lenga forest to a panoramic viewpoint overlooking the Paine Massif and the shimmering waters of Lakes Pehoe, Sarmiento, Verde, and Honda.

After lunch, we'll head to Lake Nordenskjold for a hike to Mirador Cuernos, one of the best places in the park to admire Los Cuernos, the famous "Horns" of Patagonia. Cross into Argentina, arrive in El Calafate

Today, your Patagonia adventure continues as you cross from Chile into Argentina, a country known for its rich culture, legendary gastronomy, and spectacular mountain landscapes. As we travel north, the scenery shifts once again, revealing vast open steppe, turquoise lakes, and distant peaks on the horizon.

By afternoon, we'll arrive in El Calafate, a lively town on the shores of Lago Argentino and the gateway to Los Glaciares National Park. With its inviting cafes, artisan shops, and views across South America's largest lake, it's the perfect place to wander at your own pace and soak up the atmosphere of Argentine Patagonia. If you're feeling energetic, a walk through the nearby Laguna Nimez Reserve offers a chance to spot flamingos and other birdlife against a backdrop of mountains and water.

This evening, explore El Calafate's vibrant dining scene, perhaps sampling a perfectly grilled Argentine steak and a glass of local Malbec. Whether you join your guide for dinner or choose your own spot in town, it's a wonderful introduction to the flavors and character of Argentina.
Accommodation: Patagonia Queen Hotel, El Calafate

Explore Perito Moreno Glacier

Towering above the milky-blue waters of Lago Argentino, Perito Moreno Glacier is one of the few glaciers in the world that's still advancing. As you explore the extensive viewing walkways with a local guide, you'll experience its immense scale from a variety of angles and may even witness house-sized chunks of ice breaking away and crashing into the lake below. It's a spectacle of sound, movement, and raw natural power that few places on Earth can match.

Beyond its beauty, Perito Moreno is part of the vast Southern Patagonian Ice Field, one of the world's largest freshwater reserves. The glacier's towering ice wall stretches across a narrow channel of Lago Argentino, creating a constantly changing landscape shaped by ice, water, and time.

Back in El Calafate, you'll have time to relax and reflect on a day spent face-to-face with one of Patagonia's most extraordinary sights. Watching walls of ancient ice crack and tumble into the lake is the kind of experience that stays with you long after the journey ends.
Accommodation: Patagonia Queen Hotel, El Calafate
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Arrive in El Chalten, hike Mirador Laguna Torre

With Fitz Roy's jagged granite peaks drawing ever closer, we'll travel north to El Chaltén, the hiking capital of Argentina and a dream destination for mountain lovers. As we approach town, the unmistakable silhouettes of Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre begin to dominate the horizon, a tantalizing preview of the adventures ahead.

After arriving in this charming mountain village, we'll lace up our boots for a hike to Mirador Laguna Torre. The trail winds through classic Patagonian landscapes of rolling steppe, glacial valleys, and giant boulder fields before revealing breathtaking views up the Fitz Roy Valley to Cerro Torre. Rising above a vast expanse of ice, this dramatic granite spire is one of the most celebrated peaks in the world and a sight you'll remember forever!

Back in El Chalten, enjoy some free time to explore the town's welcoming cafes, outdoor shops, and relaxed mountain-town atmosphere. It's a chance to rest your legs and soak up the excitement, because tomorrow you'll venture deeper into Los Glaciares National Park for one of the signature hikes of the trip.

A short drive from El Chalten brings us to Lago del Desierto, a glacial lake framed by forests and  mountains. We'll begin with a short walk to a lookout overlooking the lake, where the emerald-blue water reflects the surrounding peaks and the ice of Huemul Glacier.

We'll board a catamaran and cruise to the northern end of the lake, passing through a landscape that feels wonderfully remote. From there, we'll hike to Sentinel Viewpoint, where panoramic views stretch across Lago del Desierto, the Vespignani Range, and the northern face of Mount Fitz Roy. It's a perspective few visitors to Patagonia ever experience!

After lunch, we'll continue on foot along the shores of the lake, following a trail through native forest and alongside crystal-clear water. With mountain views around every corner, it's a fitting final day of hiking in the El Chalten region before we return to town for another evening together.

Today is the grand finale of your hiking adventure in Argentine Patagonia. We'll set out early on the trail to Loma del Pliegue Tumbado, a lesser-visited hike that rewards those willing to put in the effort with some of the most expansive views in Los Glaciares National Park.

The trail climbs through Patagonian beech forest before emerging onto open alpine terrain, where the landscape seems to stretch forever. As you gain elevation, Fitz Roy, Cerro Torre, Laguna Torre, and the Southern Patagonian Ice Field gradually reveal themselves in a breathtaking panorama. At the summit, you'll be treated to a diverse perspective few visitors experience, with Patagonia's most iconic peaks rising above a sea of glaciers, valleys, and wild open country. A view you'll remember forever.

Goodbye, until your next adventure

All great adventures come to an end, but the memories of Patagonia have a way of staying with you. Over the past two weeks, you've stood beneath the towering spires of Fitz Roy, wandered through the wild landscapes of Torres del Paine, watched glaciers thunder into turquoise lakes, and explored corners of the world many people only dream of seeing. Along the way, you've shared the experience with fellow travelers who arrived as strangers and leave as friends.

As you head home, you'll carry with you more than just photos. You'll leave with stories, new connections, and the satisfaction of knowing you've experienced one of the planet's most extraordinary mountain regions on foot.

If you're flying out today, your trip leader will arrange transport to El Calafate Airport. If you're staying on a little longer, enjoy every extra moment in beautiful Patagonia.

FAQs about this trip

From understanding the difficulty of hiking in Patagonia, to what kind of hiking boots to wear. Read through our FAQs to help prepare for your adventure to Patagonia.

On the first day of the trip we’ll meet you at Hotel Natalino, in Puerto Natales, Chile at 6pm for dinner with your fellow adventurers. You are welcome to book your pre-trip stay at this hotel directly or any other hotel in Puerto Natales, though you must make your own way to Hotel Natalino at the pre-designated time.

Your trip ends with a drop-off at the El Calafate Airport (FTE) for flights departing any time after breakfast.

Arrival: We recommend arriving in Puerto Natales at least the day before your trip starts, or before 2pm on the first day. Many guests like to arrive a day or two early to accommodate potential flight delays and/or explore the city prior to your trip start.

Departure: On the last day of your trip, you can fly out from El Calafate airport any time after breakfast, and we'll drop you off before noon. If you're considering an early morning flight please let us know so we can make arrangements

We’ve selected the accommodation for the unique character and adventuresome feel – this trip is not designed as a tour of the fanciest hotels in Patagonia. We prefer to stay in quaint, comfortable B&B’s and lodges. Things get a little more rustic when we head to the Refugio’s during the W-trek. The Refugio's are like backcountry lodges with hot showers, three course meals, bunk beds and it’s all part of a truly amazing experience! The rest of the time we stay in clean, comfortable, family-owned inns and hotels in the heart of the action.

If you've selected a single supplement for your trip, the W-Trek Experience portions of the trip (Days 3 – 7) are not included as no single rooms are available in the refugio's/lodges, and the single supplement price takes this into account. We recommend bringing enough clothing to only have to do laundry once during your trip, and the best time will be after your Wtrek once we return to Puerto Natales.

Occasionally, your accommodations may differ from those featured, but they’ll always be hand-picked by our expert team with care. We’ll send your final accommodation list a month before your trip begins, so you’ll know exactly where you’re staying before you set off.
