Active Adventures Guide in New Zealand
Josh was born and raised in Wellington, the southernmost capital city in the world. He spent 6 years living and working in China before coming back home and is now based in Christchurch.
What's your favorite travel destination?
Rome. The architecture and artwork are unreal, and they have this thing called caffe al crema. Basically whipped espresso and I've been searching for it again ever since!
What's your favorite adventure activity and why?
Hiking or kayaking. Also can't beat a sunny day at the beach.
What has been your most inspiring adventure experience?
Hitchhiking around Ireland - gorgeous country and great people. I'd love to go back one day.
What's your favorite Active Adventures trip, and why?
Ultimate North Island Adventure. The variety of activities is great, and the tubing in Waitomo Caves is completely unlike anything else.
When did you first get the travel bug?
Probably after University. I went backpacking through Europe and have been travelling ever since.
Why did you want to become a guide with Active Adventures?
New Zealand's the best country in the world and being able to show it off its best parts for a job is super cool.
What destination would you most like to travel to (that you haven't been to yet)?
Mexico to see all the old Aztec ruins would be pretty cool. Also, nachos!
Do you have any favorite hobbies or special talents you could tell us about?
Former New Zealand under 18's Ping Pong (table tennis) champion.
