Georgia is a people person with a passion for great food. Growing up in Canterbury, New Zealand, she spent lots of time outdoors and loves sharing that with others. She escaped the office life and traded it for outdoor instructing, which has led her to meet a variety of people of all ages and take them cool places. She loves anything outdoors and trying new things (she once bumped into a friend at a farmer's market and then ended up paragliding with them 30 minutes later!). A sparkly eyed person who brings life and enthusiasm to any situation.
What's your favorite travel destination?
Anything remote/back country in my own backyard. I love New Zealand's scenery and finding the beautiful views not many people get to see!
What's your favorite adventure activity?
Kayaking, or canyoning, or hiking, or caving, or via ferrata... Just a couple.
What has been your most inspiring adventure experience?
Followed a cute guy into the creek and haven't left the cute guy or the creek since.
No seriously, I think it was kayaking up Lake Rotoiti, to go for a hike to a canyon, descend the canyon and then hike and kayak out. It showed me the full scope of my ability on a multisport day trip in New Zealand's great outdoors!
When did you first get the travel bug?
Straight out of high-school, I took 6 months to travel around the USA and Europe and LOVED it.
What is your favorite trip to lead?
I get super excited to guide the Ultimate South Island Adventure, but ask me again at the end of the season, and my current favorite might have changed!
Why did you want to guide for Active Adventures?
I love New Zealand's scenery and encouraging people to enjoy the outdoors.
Plus, a great friend and colleague told me it'd be a great challenge and a fantastic opportunity to share my love for NZ's scenery and help people enjoy the outdoors. Not one to pass up a challenge, I applied!
What's a destination you'd like to travel to, that you haven't been to yet?
I'd love to travel to Italy and Canada.
Do you have any favorite hobbies or special talents?
Love a game of disk golf. Terrible at it, but love it! Special talent would be knitting without looking at my hands.
