The Active Adventure tour was the best I've ever had in international travel. The guides were the best of the best. We got to see the best of the best in New Zealand. I felt like we got our money's worth and more from using their adventure package.

This was my first experience with a guided tour, and it was absolutely wonderful. Jess and Jake could not have been more gracious, kind, and knowledgeable. Jess's cooking was over-the-top exceptional (better than the restaurant food). Jake's easygoing style and vast knowledge of the Kiwi landscape was truly amazing - he entertained us, inspired us, and led us with finesse. I would follow these two young people anywhere.

There is a reason why this is Active Adventures' signature tour: it was spectacular! What a fun and wonderful way to experience the South Island. Our guides Holly and Emma were fun, professional and awesome cooks. The hikes were stunning. I had an absolutely marvelous time.

We travelled both in the North Island and the South Island with Active Adventures, everyone talked about the beauty in South Island, but it was hard to imagine until you are amongst the views, forest, trees, the scenery is unbelievable. What I loved about being with Active Adventure is that we could never of been able to do as much as we did and know where to go, which hike, which direction of the hike, where to eat, to get coffee. The guiding was both very safety conscious, but incredible knowledgeable about the land, the history, geography, the stories, the Maori culture, the plants and the birds. Not only did I get to be out-side and active every single day but I learned so much. Unfortunately my husband was not well with water intoxication on the mountain in the back country hike. The guides moved quickly to get him evacuated, Active Adventures kept in close contact with me while my husband was in Nelson Hospital. I really felt taken care of and we are blessed with a very positive outcome and in the end returned safely to Canada. Additionally, the care in the hospital was phenomenal.

My husband and I joined the New Zealand South Island 14-day tour as a honeymoon trip. Not only was New Zealand South Island an unforgettable and gorgeous destination, but we had very good tour guides and an awesome group of travelers on the trip with us. We had so much fun, and discovered so much of the South Island! Our guides Ryan and Emma were very prepared, fun, and helpful as we navigated our various adventures across the Island. Emma and Ryan adjusted the standard itinerary in some cases to do a better hike, and took very good care of us all, including feeding us quite well. They also entertained us with stories, music (including live guitar played by Ryan) and jokes. The hotels/lodges were very good, ranging from fancy to basic mountain to downright adorable cabins. We did not do the 3-day backpacking option, but thoroughly enjoyed the day hikes we did instead and our hotel stay at Nelson Lakes National Park. I enjoyed the mix of activities planned, even though the majority was hiking! The only activity I was not able to do was the 2-hour bike ride (too little biking experience to be comfortable on the mountain bikes on a gravel trail). My only comment for other would-be honeymooners is that an adventure honeymoon is very different from a romantic honeymoon, so be prepared!

Greg and Kim are an exceptional team, and our experience with them was truly memorable. Kim's culinary skills created an array of delightful dishes that had us savoring every bite. From appetizers to main courses, each plate was a testament to her culinary expertise, leaving a lasting impression.
On the other hand, Greg's knowledge of New Zealand and its diverse birdlife brought a unique and engaging element to our stay. His passion for the subject was evident in the captivating stories he shared, turning casual conversations into fascinating insights about the country's avian wonders.
What made this duo stand out was their seamless collaboration. Kim's dishes perfectly complemented the natural beauty of New Zealand that Greg so passionately described. The combination of exquisite cuisine and enriching discussions created an immersive experience that exceeded our expectations.
Greg and Kim's genuine warmth and expertise made our stay not just a vacation but an exploration of taste and nature. Whether through a mouthwatering meal crafted by Kim or an intriguing bird-related anecdote shared by Greg, their unique blend of talents turned our time into a delightful, well-rounded experience.
