Jessica Cornejo

Galapagos Islands Guide

Jessica, like her brother Pepo, was born and raised in the Galapagos, on the island of San Cristobal - making her a true 'Galapagueto'. She has said, "Since I was a little girl my dream was to work as a naturalist guide to share and explain to people how the Galapaguetos live here, spending day after day with this unique flora and fauna." After completing her university training in Cuba, she returned to Galapagos in 2002 to fulfil her dream by completing the Naturalist Guide Course and entering the tourism world. Jessica's love of the flora, fauna and amazing animals of Galapagos shines when she explains about the behaviour of giant breeching whales or the tiny workings of sally light foot crabs. Jessica lives in San Cristobal with her family.

“Jessica is a true pro. She is fully aware that the group of people spent a lot of time and money to get there. She did the preparation and did whatever she possibly could to make sure we had a good experience. Knowledge of the area was incredible. The woman seemed to know EVERYTHING. We also enjoyed having Cara the intern along on the trip.”

    Simply said: Excellent

We’ve booked our trip with Active Adventures from NZ but ended up with Galakiwi Adventures as the implementing party. A bit confusing at the beginning but it turned out quite well.
Our trip through the Galapagos Islands started in San Cristobal, followed by Floreana, Isabela and ended in Santa Cruz.
We booked an all-inclusive trip and it turned out to be a very good decision. In fact we realized only after a few days how convenient is was to have everything organized for you and how much time you can actually safe. Starting with swimming gear that is provided as part of the package. Transportation to the ferry, getting on & off, having the transportation ready when you arrive, all those organizational aspects are taken care off which makes travelling from island to island very easy and smooth. Then hotels are ready, check in & out done super fast, luggage’s pick up etc. all organized. Lunch and/or dinners arranged in advance to maximize the vacation time and reduce wasted time to a bare minimum. What else to say besides that the organization was simply said excellent!!!
Then we had Zambo our tour guide, a fantastic & very knowledgeable person.
Not only questions from adults were not a problem for him, our kids and the other families kids who were also part of the group constantly came up with all sorts of questions and somehow, Zambo always had an answer.
All of this made it a great vacation; we enjoyed it a lot

    Everything I hoped for

This was my bucket list trip and it did not disappoint! As a biology major, the main draw was the wildlife, the natural history, and scientific significance of the Galapagos but it was also so much more. Our guide, Pepo, led our small group on a journey of discovery while sharing his expertise and great sense of humor. Our fellow adventurers were so much fun and we bonded over great food, once in a lifetime experiences, and fun in the sun. I highly recommend Active Adventures and will most likely book another trip with them soon!

    Condor

This trip was excellent. The guides were fantastic (super friendly and great with seamlessly managing various ages of people and fitness levels), it was very well organized and the weather held all but two days of the entire trip allowing really amazing views of most mountain vistas. A real must for the bucket list.

    Simply Awesome

Incredible doesn't cover it. This trip gave a truly comprehensive Patagonia experience. Congratulations must go to whoever designed the sequence/structure. Each day presented us with a never-to-be-topped experience, promptly upped a notch the next..for the FULL trip duration!! No faults with accommodation, meals, transportation etc. Jay was absolutely awesome (I'll be running out of superlatives soon). Personable, great leader, communicator and guide. No problem ever became a problem. He and his brother Gem made this a real ILE (incredible life experience). Still don't know how he managed to arrange for the variety of weather and wildlife. For anyone thinking about doing this trip - don't think, DO. And I would recommend Active adventures!
