Testimonials

“Ken was always in good spirits. His enthusiasm was contagious and his professional guiding knowledge apparent. He adjusted our hikes according to weather and our ability. He went beyond the call of duty by re-waterproofing our jackets and laughing at our jokes. He calmly helped (saved) me when I was choking on a candy. Thank you, Ken.”
- Sue Harrison (Richland, Michigan, United States), Pristine New Zealand February 2018

“Ken is the best. He has ruined me for any future guided trips. He has boundless, positive energy. His laugh is a beautiful sound. He always makes you feel valued, and he makes you feel that you can achieve anything. Informative, encouraging, and constantly working to make sure you have a good trip. I feel so fortunate to have met him and to have had him as a guide.”
- Tanya Karimi (Colorado Springs, Colorado, United States) Rimu Feb 6 2017

“I never saw Ken without a smile and a good word to everyone he encountered, me included. He was amazing and I feel lucky to have met him, much less to have had a chance to be guided by him through this experience. You are lucky to have him!”

Exceeded my Expectations. A Trip to Treasure.

Active adventures provided an outstanding New Zealand experience. Our guides (Tory and Jordie) went above and beyond during our South Island Rimu trip. Their passion for the outdoors as well as the traditions and culture of NZ enhanced the two week journey. As guides, I was most impressed by their attention to detail and safety. I appreciated the warm smiles, gems of knowledge and yummy meals on even the challenging hike days. For my birthday, during the three day hike at Nelson Lakes National Park, Tory and Jordie surprised me with two delicious cakes to share with my new hiking family. A moment I will treasure, enhanced by the breath taking views of the alpine lake at Angelus Hut.

The beauty of the country surpassed my expectations, particularly sites like Milford Sound and Mt. Cook. Such a diverse, lush landscape, each hike offered a unique perspective of the stunning views. Combined with the kayaking and biking options, allowed for an exciting and interesting mix. The highlight of my two weeks was my heli-hike on the Tasman Glacier, such an unforgettable experience.

I'm looking forward to future Active Adventure trips, but will definitely keep a little piece of NZ in my heart. A truly bucket list destination.

    Loved NZ Kea Adventure

New Zealand is a beautiful country, but the experience would not have been half as memorable if it were not for our AA guides. They were professional, could answer any question about NZ, incredibly competent in all ways and so much fun! But it would be unfair not to mention the preliminary support team leading up to the trip. All requests and needs were handled quickly and efficiently. And last, but not least, the itinerary was so well thought out. I enjoyed every minute of the trip and was sorry to see it end.

    Best Guides ever!!!

We didn't have the best weather on this trip, but Nick and Elder were able to bring out the best in all of us. Their energy was boundless, their cooking was superb, and their humor and good natures made every day a pleasure.

    North Island Kauri

The North Island was an amazing adventure. We were kept busy hiking, biking snorkelling and kayaking, and our guides were very easy going and helpful in every way. We saw and experienced more of the Maori culture, the large Kauri trees (words cannot describe), and felt the love and appreciation of the Maori people for the land, birds and all living species. It was great to have them guide us through the kauri forests. The trip is spit in half in the middle with a day in Aukland, and the first half we had 12 in the group and the second half there were 13 (A lot) in our group. I prefer smaller groups. The scenery was amazing, Natalie and Jasmine were amazing as well. An AMAZING trip! Loved it!

Jan 31 2017 Kauri with Andrew and Jo

Awesome trip. Andy and Jo were excellent guides. Loved Andy's music selection. Themed for the various activities (played Queen Fat Bottom Girls as we drove to mountain biking). He gave us great insight into the history of New Zealand as well as the flora and fauna. And Jo was an excellent cook and companion.
