By Kit Parks from Active Travel Adventures

Kit Parks is the brains and the voice behind Active Travel Adventures, an independent podcast about all things adventure vacationing - it's just a coincidence that the name she chose is so close to ours, honest! In each episode Kit interviews a traveller who has recently returned from a trip to a destination Kit's audience has informed her they're keen to learn about. These episodes paint a really clear picture of what it's like to travel to a particular destination, which operators are the leaders in that destination, and what you need to know that you hadn't even thought of!

Kit has interviewed a handful of our recent guests about trips with Active Adventures, and so we've included those episodes below, for you to listen to and get a great idea of what it's like to travel on those particular trips with us. Enjoy!

Stan Jacobson talks with Kit about his 'Annapurna Sanctuary Trek' in the Himalayas

5 Stars x 3

“I rated this as 5 stars, "Excellent, the trip of a lifetime", but actually that is not totally true. It is actually 1 of 3 trips of a life time. The other two were the AA Jaguar Tour and the AA Condor tour. All three were outstanding and each qualified as a "trip of a lifetime". ”

Experience one of the greatest treks on the planet on a two-week adventure to the famed Annapurna Sanctuary. This amphitheatre is made up of three Annapurna mountains (South, I and III), Gangapurna and Machapuchare (Fish Tail), with the famous Annapurna Circuit trail winding its way through the valley beneath these mountains. We’ll start our trip by exploring the temples and markets of Kathmandu, Nepal’s bustling capital city, before flying to the lakeside city of Pokhara at the foot of the Himalayas.

Our journey will take us deep into the Himalayas, hiking up the glacial Modi Khola River gorge, passing through tiny Gurung settlements and into an alpine area that will take your breath away. You’ll be accompanied by an Active trip leader who will meet you in Kathmandu and introduce you to your Nepalese team of guides and porters. In true Active style you’ll stay in local accommodation, which in Nepal means rooms in comfortable and cosy Gurung tea houses (small hotels), and enjoy hearty meals to top it all off.
