Why a Bike Tour Is One of the Best Ways to Explore New Zealand

Experiencing a country by bike provides a unique opportunity to be immersed in the landscape. Instead of watching it flash by through the window of a car, the barriers are down. You will get to experience the sights, sounds and smells of the countryside.

Look at your leisure

Discover the delight of enjoying our stunning landscapes at a slower pace. Whilst pedalling you will have plenty of time to look around, hear the birdsong and smell the flora. If you want to stop and take a photo, all you need to do is put on the brakes, pull over and snap away.

The beauty of travelling by bike is the variety of places that you can access. We can take you further off the beaten track, to places not frequented by busloads of day-trippers.

No navigation skills required

A favourable factor to appreciate when taking part in a guided bike tour is that you won’t get lost!

When bike touring solo, a considerable amount of time is spent consulting maps. When setting out on your chosen route it can be quite disheartening to have the realisation that, after half an hour or so of hard pedalling, you find out you have actually been riding in the wrong direction – speaking from experience!

Reap the rewards!

After spending an energetic day in the saddle, you won’t need any justification for tucking into a gourmet dinner and enjoying a glass of fine local wine. Our guides are the experts on fine dining, they know where to find all the best local cuisine on offer.

The van is never too far away

Some days you will be leaping out of bed raring to take on another full day in the saddle. On other days you may not be feeling quite so energetic, your posterior might need a break from the bike seat!  There's always the option to take a more relaxed approach to the day. At any stage, you can choose to hop into the van for all or part of the day.

Finding the perfect fit

There’s no need to think about what different type of equipment or gear you will need. We will take the time to select the right size bike for you and make adjustments for the perfect fit. A comfortable riding position can make a huge difference when cycling for prolonged periods of time. Any bike maintenance issues along the way will be fixed by our jack-of-all-trades guides.

There are many ways to enjoy our amazing country. Taking a bike tour adds an extra dimension of achievement. At the end of each day, you will have a sense of accomplishment, traversing the country and taking in the spectacular vistas around each bend under the effort of our own pedal power.
We offer a selection biking-focussed trips, ranging from 4 to 14 days. Check out our Alps to Ocean and New Zealand Biking Adventure itineraries to find out more.
