Born in the capital of the South Island (Christchurch... apparently!), Tory spent the first ten years of my life in Twizel - Town of Trees before heading North for University in our real Capital city, Wellington! Having travelled to Thailand for a school exchange at 17, the travel bug began as her explorations reached Nepal and Tibet before living in Australia, Peru and Canada over the years. Her main hobby being travel, she has dabbled in hotel management and the divine art of barista creations, but they could never help in achieving her main life goal; to visit the four corners of the Earth and immerse herself in as many different cultures as possible.
Tory's move to Queenstown in 2015 saw her stumble across Active Adventures and the rest is history. After spending two summers guiding clients around NZ, sharing all the best spots of her home country she decided to stop in the best place of all – Queenstown – the adventure capital of the world. Here she plans to hike every trail possible on her weekends while enjoying surfing in Karitane on the East Coast come warm weather.
We thought we'd throw in one our testimonials about Tory, from her guiding days. It pretty much sums her up whether she's in the office or out on the trails!
“Tory's love of taking care of people by feeding them well was clear from the very beginning, but beyond that, she created a great sense of community, both around the table and on the bus, taking time to talk with all of us. I was always amazed at her energy, ready with our favorite morning drink when we were barely awake, and cheerfully putting together delicious meals after completing the same full day as the rest of us. She was mindful in making everyone feel at home.”- Carl Hess (Los Altos, California, United States) Rimu Jan 9 2017
