Working for an adventure travel company really does have its perks. You get to hang out with a bunch of incredibly inspiring people all drawn together with a common passion for the outdoors. Here at Active HQ, a Monday morning is typically filled with storytelling; who biked the new trail? who entered that race? who’s just returned from an epic holiday? When you travel with us, you’ll get to know a few members of our team and most definitely your guides, but there are some ‘behind the scenes’ people too, and here we’d like to share their recent adventures.
Our Moonlight Runners – Ange & Lynette
Ange works in operations to make sure that your trip goes off without a hitch, and of course Lynette is our client services angel, here to help you prepare for your trip of a lifetime. These two have just competed in the Moonlight 30km trail run near Queenstown. “Great single track running along old gold mining water races, breathtaking ridgelines combined with some fun in the beech forests and a handful of steep ascents and descents”.
Our Powder Hound – Adrian
This week Adrian, our IT guru, returned from a holiday skiing in Japan. He tells us it wasn’t snowing every day, but that was probably just to keep us from getting even more jealous! Hopefully we’ll get some good snow down here in New Zealand this winter!
Our Triathlete in Training – Paul
Paul is our Marketing guy, he looks after our website, brochures and all of that stuff. Lately he’s decided to get into triathlons, motivated by his experience in a recent swimming race in Australia called the Lorne Pier to Pub. It’s the world’s most famous ocean swimming race and a great excuse to visit the pub afterwards – as that’s where you end up!
Our Whitewater Kayaker – Phil
Phil is our jack of all trades here at Active. He founded Active Adventures South America and Himalayas and could well be the person you speak to when you’re planning your next trip with us. He also helps Paul out with marketing and even guides the odd trip here and there. Phil is based in the North Island where the rivers are always flowing, and over the past weekend he competed in the Wairoa Extreme Race, a ‘boaterX’ event where kayakers race head to head down the rapids.
