When most people think about New Zealand, they think of ‘The Hobbit’, sheep, jagged mountains, and our exuberant passion for Rugby – for good reason. While this is great, there is so much more that New Zealand has to offer. At Active Adventures, we’ll take you to some of the most unbelievable off-the-beaten-track destinations – that even the locals don’t know about! From the awe-inspiring views, legendary hospitality, the abundance of wildlife, and the lifelong companions that you’ll make, it’s no wonder that our signature trip, the ‘Rimu’, has been rated as 4.49 out of 5, from 3662 surveys! For nearly 20 years now, we’ve been fine tuning this perennial favourite, showing folks like you a taste of New Zealand, Active style. There’s really only one word that can sum it all up… AWESOME. We could rave about the ‘Rimu’ all day, but we’ve decided to put together a collection of reviews from our guests… we hope you enjoy them as much as we have!
My husband and I wanted a honeymoon to remember and that is what we got with Active New Zealand. We still have the beautiful New Zealand scenery burned in our minds which makes us want to come back and enjoy more. I highly recommend the Winter Rimu tour to everyone.

It wasn’t just the jawdroppingly gorgeous scenery, the fantastic hikes and spectacular kayaking (sea lions! penguins! waterfalls! lagoons!), or even the really good food that won my heart and made the Winter Rimu trip unforgettable – it was the awesome people from Active New Zealand (cheers & hugs to Ben, Nikki & Sophie) who really made it a very special holiday & one that I’ll always remember.

Active New Zealand provides a great opportunity to see AND experience sites that most people would never imagine. You will do more in two weeks than you ever could if you were to plan it yourself. The sights, experiences, and atmosphere are something that I will take home for years to come. If you really want to see New Zealand for what it truly is, I would recommend this vacation to anyone who loves the outdoors.

There was laughter (mostly at ourselves – or Reon’s polypro), there was joy (at pushing our limits – and enjoying a cold one after a hard day) and there were tears (but only when we had to leave – at least two of the group were crying at Christchurch!). Not sure there is anything else you’d want from a trip – oh yeah, the jaw dropping scenery, fresh air and good company were all there too!

Not my first time in New Zealand but definitely one amazing New Zealand adventure that I will never ever forget. Aotearoa did provide the most wonderful backdrop, snow-covered mountains, wild remote beaches, clear lakes, glaciers, lush rain forests and more. Active New Zealand provided the fun. 14 days of smiles and laughter and expert advice from Lead Guide Ken, and tasty food and much knowledge from Dan. Coming back home with many memories, photos, new friends, and the future plans of going back to this amazing land I love so much. Sweet as New Zealand… thank you Active, you are simply amazing!

I lived in Germany for two years prior to visiting New Zealand, and in that time I was able to travel all throughout Europe and see many of the “most beautiful places in the world”. However, I have never been to any country that was more beautiful or amazing than New Zealand. More than just the aesthetically pleasing aspects that New Zealand has to offer, but also the people, the food, and the general outlook on life is unlike any other place that I have ever experienced.
