Darren is originally from a small town on the west coast of Scotland called Ayr, close to where William Wallace was born. Prior to settling in New Zealand, he spent ten years living and travelling in Greece, Thailand, Cambodia, Canada, Australia and South America. He describes himself as an 'adventure travel nut' and regards South America as being right at the top of the list of adventure travel destinations. Darren recently returned to South America to visit the Galapagos Islands where he was blown away by the 'abundant and unique wildlife'. He likened his swimming with turtles to visiting Machu Picchu - both in their own way were 'dramatic, majestic and moving'.
Darren has travelled the world, but everyone still has something on their bucket list and for him that something is space travel. Watch this space...
Next time you speak to Darren, ask him about his golf handicap. His aim is to get down to single figures. He's at 11 right now so time will tell.
Above all, we aim to be amazing hosts. We're proud of our kiwi roots, and our professional, warm and relaxed style of running trips around the world is unforgettable.
