New Zealand Guide
Born in the north of England (Geordie-land), Joe loves his rugby, snowboarding, fishing and he’s played the drums for the past 10 years! He speaks English, ‘pigeon’ French, Scottish, Kiwi and Australian (he’s a master of the local lingoes).
Describe a life experience that has shaped you today – “When I was 10 years old my family moved to a tiny Scottish Island called Iona. The island is 3 miles long and 1 mile wide. The school only had 7 kids and life was so chilled. If anybody was going over to the mainland they’d ring around the entire island and bring back Indian takeaways for everyone! The place had a sense of community that I see in Active Adventures. I don’t live on the island any more though!”
“Prior to guiding for Active I worked as a chef in various hotels and restaurants in England, Scotland and Australia.”
Favourite quote – “remember what Bilbo used to say: ‘It’s a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no knowing where you might be swept off to.” – J.R.R Tolkien
