Snowboarding in winter, surfing in summer, skating, biking, tramping, camping, traveling!

Quirky/special talents?
Pretty good at accents

What’s been your greatest outdoor adventure to date?
So many good times, hiking a ridge line in Kicking Horse in Canada with friends for the best pow tree turns ever, surfing in kaikoura with the ocean, forest and mountains in the back ground, surfing/camping summer missions, camping with the family while growing up.

What did you do before discovering a passion for guiding?
Snowboarding seasons between France and NZ, and travelling for 4 years before deciding to do a bachelor of sustainability and outdoor education at CPIT in Christchurch this year.

Do you have a favourite quote that you live by?
"If you are interested in something, no matter what it is, go at it full speed. Embrace it with both arms, hug it, love it, and above all become passionate about it. Lukewarm is no good." - Roald Dall

Describe a life experience that has shaped you today:
Traveling, learning and experiencing new things as often as possible.

  • “Alex is the most awesome co-leader. The quiet but effective wonder women. She has so much grace under any pressure that presented itself. Hard to believe she is 24 yrs. Would hire her in a minute.”
Renee West (Reston, Virginia, United States), January 2016
  • “Alex is wise beyond her 23 years. She was always concerned with my welfare and safety on hikes and our bike ride. I appreciate her beautiful personality and her ability to make very good decisions when I needed a little help with a few hikes. She made sure I was pointed in the right direction and checked on me often or just hiked my sloggy pace. She made my trip one to remember. She was keenly interested in nature, trees, birds, flowers, shrubs, glaciers and knew quite a bit. She loves people and this is a real bonus. Just the right amount of relating to everyone. Younger, older. Didn't matter to her. She was right their helping us when we needed help.”
Andrea Halligan (San Diego, California, United States), December 2015
  • “Alex was fantastic, and was very attentive to my inquiries about local flora and fauna. She is very friendly, organized, and professional.”
Andrew Davenport (Edmonds, Washington, United States), November 2015
